| CURRENT AND PROPOSED ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES:
WY@ERP
The Wyoming Department of Transportation, in cooperation with PeopleSoft and AgileAssets,
completed development of the WY@ERP (Wyoming Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
Our goal was to implement a computer system which fully integrates financial information and assets.
Work is underway to permit querying and presenting data through a geographic information system
(GIS). The system has been designed to eliminate redundant data entry and as much manual processing
as possible in general ledger, accounts receivable, billing, accounts payable, asset management, project costing, contract administration, grants, budgeting, purchasing, human resources, time and labor and payroll. The system allows the Department to manage its assets by analyzing their condition (or level of service) and reporting on both the condition and attributes of these assets. It places process “ownership” in the hands of those most directly involved.
During FY07, the Enterprise Technology Program focused on enhancing and tuning the ERP system
problems and coordinating the Department's subject matter experts and functional and technical
consultants to solve problems. The Financial Services Program focused on stabilizing the ERP system, which integrates the Peoplesoft enterprise resource planning software modules with the Agile Assets enterprise asset management software modules into one integrated solution. ERP will enable WYDOT
to provide better customer service, increase responsiveness to changing business requirements and priorities, and increase overall efficiency in business processes.
GIS / ITS
The Geographic Information Systems / Intelligent Transportation Systems (GIS/ITS) Program was
enhanced in FY07 to launch a new transportation management center to coordinate travel management
and information needs, administered upgrades to an enhanced 511 telephone information system,
delivered a geographic information systems viewer, and deployed and monitored a variety of ITS
devices.
The Information Technology Program provided technology-related services and support; updated
computer systems and server hardware; analyzed and improved network capabilities; developed,
implemented, and maintained software; and supported end users. To upgrade end user support, the Program implemented the GroupLink system to administer support requests.
BRASS-GIRDER™
Work continues on merging BRASS-GIRDER(STD)™ and BRASS-GIRDER(LRFD)™ into a single
application which will eliminate the need to maintain two sets of software (Load Factor Design and Load and Resistance Factor Design) which perform many of the same tasks such as section properties determination, dead and live load computations, certain Specification checks, etc. This new software will allow the user to define a bridge once and perform either LFD or LRFD computations with a click
of a button. The user interface for common parameters and steel girder definition has been completed. Currently, we are adding the capability to design and analyze prestressed concrete girders. We hope to
release a new beta version later this year.
WyoLink
The Telecommunications Program continued work on "WyoLink," the statewide, public- safety,
interoperable radio communications system.
NEW APPLICATIONS:
WYDOT began implementing the Falcon Document Management System, which involves scanning
documents into electronic format for storage and access.
RECORD OF EXCHANGE
BRASS
The Bridge Rating and Analysis of Structural Systems (BRASS) suite of computer programs was
distributed as either stand alone programs or as the analysis engines in AASHTO’s BridgeWare Virtis®
and Opis® programs to 40 State DOTs (including Puerto Rico, and the New York State Thruway), 210
consulting firms, 16 Federal Highway Administration offices, one Army Corps of Engineers offices, one US Forest Service office, four city and ten county transportation offices, four universities, and one Canadian province for a total of 277 users nationwide.
