President’s Welcome

It is my privilege to welcome you to this site, and to the 53rd annual International Highway Engineering Exchange Program (IHEEP) Conference.

I believe it is truly amazing, and a testament to the value that the HEEP members and associates derive for participation in HEEP, that HEEP has been able to exist and function as a fraternal organization for 53 years!  HEEP has no head office; there is no executive staff to keep the operational wheels turning between conferences.  There are, however, many dedicated volunteers, vendors and other participants who have caught the vision of sharing information, providing help and advice, and connecting the DOTs as we join in this journey of applying technology and automation to the transportation issues of today.

Whether you are new to HEEP or a long-time supporter, I invite you to attend the IHEEP 2011 Conference in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  As in the past, this year will again offer all participants the opportunity to learn first-hand from others who are also working to apply automation and technology to real-world transportation issues.  The group discussions, presentations and panel sessions are a wonderful way to gain and share valuable information.  In addition, we anticipate that there will be 30 vendors on-site who have expertise in applying technology and automation to transportation. They are willing to listen to your needs and are happy to demonstrate what they can offer to meet your requirements.

I would be remise if I didn’t also mention the wonderful opportunity that delegates and guests alike will have to experience unique and interesting Manitoba culture.  From the distinctive Red River Valley music, the interesting origins of the Manitoba settlers and pioneers, to the museums, art galleries and many cultural festivals and the Folklorama experience, you will find a lot of things to see and do while visiting Manitoba.  If you’re a golfer you may want to extend your stay in Manitoba. You will find many interesting and challenging courses available for your enjoyment within easy driving distance from the Conference Hotel.

Make plans now to join us in Winnipeg, Manitoba, September 11th to 15th, 2011, and be prepared to participate in Manitoba’s “Joie de Vivre!”.

Please also visit the IHEEP 2011 Conference web site.  More information will be added as it becomes available.     www.iheep2011.com
